How to simulate weak grid environments of varying strengths? How to verify the operating capability of energy storage inverters under different short-circuit ratio conditions?
To address customers’ practical requirements for weak-grid testing of power conversion systems (PCS), VILVA custom-developed the AC400V-350A weak grid load device. With a combination of adjustable reactance and resistance, it delivers a weak grid simulation solution for the R&D, testing and validation of energy storage inverters.
Based on customers' actual test requirements, VILVA AC400V-350A weak grid load device consists of multiple modules including power unit, test unit, control unit, heat dissipation unit and protection unit.
The core advantage of the weak grid load device is that it can alter the impedance characteristics of the test system through different combinations of resistors and inductors, so as to simulate weak grid conditions with varying strengths.

For energy storage inverter testing, different short-circuit ratios correspond to varying grid strengths.
If tests are only performed with fixed impedance, it will be difficult to cover diverse application scenarios and systematically verify the performance of PCS under various weak grid conditions.
VILVA AC400V-350A weak grid load bank addresses this challenge.
The load bank supports local touchscreen control and remote host computer control.
During on-site commissioning, engineers can operate the device via the touchscreen. When the equipment needs to connect to an automated test system, remote control can be realized through RS485/RJ45 communication interfaces and supporting communication protocols.
